Berryville Arkansas
The city of Berryville, Arkansas, is named after Blackburn Henderson Berry, a local settler who came from Alabama. Named in 1850 by Berry, the town initially served as a trading and educational center for the surrounding farming community.
The town was incorporated in 1876 and became one of the two county seats for Carroll County, sharing this distinction with Eureka Springs. The "split seat" arrangment was created for the purpose of keeping county gov't and especially the court system in operation when the heavy rains of Spring would sometimes "split" the county into two because of an impasable Kings River.
The town's early development was significantly impacted by the Civil War and was partially destroyed, primarily through fire.
Surrounded by a small agricultural community the town is better known in Arkansas business for its poultry industry featurign a major Tysons Food processing plant.
Berryville's current population is 5,682 as of the 2020 census.
